Preventive dentistry • TOOTH FILLINGS • FILLINGS – CERAMIC INLAYS Tooth fillings Prevailing material used for fillings in Slovakia is a silver amalgam that is made of powder and mercury. Mercury is a cellular poison and is categorized as a hazardous waste. It has been proven that mercury is absorbed into the body many years after a tooth was filled with it. In our practice we use plastic (white) fillings that exceed amalgam in stability and abrasive resistance. In addition, they have no health effects and look good. If a white filling is well done, it will not fall off, as is the case with other types of fillings. Materials we use act like a chameleon – they adjust to the color of the tooth and are invisible because they are molded to copy the shape of the real tooth, they are very aesthetic.
